William B. Zastera is a retired judge of the 2nd Judicial District Court. His service to the people of Cass, Sarpy and Otoe counties spanned more than 20 years. Zastera’s experience on the bench also includes nearly a decade of work as a judge for the Sarpy County Adult Drug Court. Before that appointment, he served the 2nd Judicial District Court with distinction for six years. In total, Zastera’s judicial career totals more than 26 years. His integrity, high character, and professional dedication were honored by colleagues with his selection as a Nebraska State Bar Fellow.
Zastera earned a reputation as a skilled litigator during his tenure as Public Defender for Otoe County. He proudly defended the rights of the county’s citizens for half a decade. Prior to that, William worked in private practice in Nebraska City, Nebraska. His decision-making skills and passion for the law were honed as City Attorney for Syracuse, Palmyra and Talmage, Nebraska.
Zastera earned his Juris Doctorate from the Creighton University School of Law. He earned his undergraduate degrees from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Zastera is the former President of the 2nd Judicial District Bar Association and has expertly served the Nebraska District Judges Association in numerous roles including President.
